Away too long

I've been away from this blog for too long, hope to do better now :)
What can I say, life seems to take over now and again and leave me far too busy to do the things I like doing, but that's life right!
A little update on my life since my last posts:
Today took my mom to the doctor, she's been having pain and they want her to see a cancer doctor due to her mastecotomy where the pain is and her limp nodes seemed a bit swollen, God I hope it's not more cancer, after all she's been though with her health and loosing my dad to cancer last Nov, this is not how I want things to go for her.
She just said "If it's cancer, just shoot me!" lol, not going to happen and I'm keeping positive thoughts for her.
Positive notes in my life are that I was able to spend a few days in Waldport while my son and daughter in law were there for 4 days in a vacation house on their vacation. They also brought my granddaughter with them so it was a great visit with some of my family. They also followed me back home and spent a few hours with visiting my mom and enjoying the beaches here in Coos Bay. Not a long enough visit, but it was great to have the time we had together.
My youngest son flew to Seattle and met up with his Dad and stepmom and stepsisters and spent 6 days on a sailboat cruse around the San Juan Islands. He seemed to have had a great time. A trip I can only dream about, but I'm so glad he was able to go and see things that will sure keep in his memories for a lifetime. Of course there's the Alaska cruise next summer that will surely top this trip for him. One more year of school and he will be out on his own, which is mixed feelings for me. So used to have children around but they all have to spread their wings and fly from the nest sometime.
I'm trying to find more time to work on my Zazzle store, hoping to add more items soon and start on some holiday projects. I enjoy my art and photography so much, just wish the old body would allow me to spend more time sitting at the computer.
The weather has sucked here on the coast this summer, I don't believe I've ever seen such a lousy summer in the nearly 10 years I've lived here. Of course everyone inland has complained of the heat, and I'm sure I would too if I were living where it's over 90 degrees almost every day for a month or more. I do love the coast though and I guess that's why I put up with it lol
Ok enough rambling, better figure out what's for dinner now and maybe later I can post more.

For the longest time I've wanted to get my hands into real art, you know, the sit at the craft table surrounded by bit's of paper, glue, photos, scraps of this and that and get down to business of creating something I could hold and touch. Well I still hope to do this one day soon, but I'm feeling that what I have been doing on my computer and with my camera can be just as rewarding and is by all means still "Real Art"! With so many people now using computers and the internet it just makes sense to have your art shown online, and what better way than to start out with it already there. Art is art, no matter what the medium used, and for me working with digital seems to be a natural and true calling that I find gives me a freedom of so many creative ideas.
Lately I've been playing around with old vintage photos to make collage type artwork, with the help of a great blending filter used in photoshop I can enjoy many hours of creating. Cats are home

Just a few words to say that both our cats are back home, went though the surgery fine and they are now fixed without worries of more kittens :) Even though they are now my mom's cats, they spent the night at my house in a spare bathroom. Turned on the heater to warm it up and made them a nice warm bed to sleep in. They were still pretty drugged up when we got them home, and even though it was a bit scary and sad to see them that way, it was also a bit funny when they did start to move around and try to walk. Like two little drunks on a nights bender. Stand, stagger, fall, try to stand again, drag themselves up to only fall on their sides again. Thankfully the Lady at the Neuter Scooter clinic told us how they would behave once home. I think I would have really been scared more and on the phone with them had I not been told this. The Neuter Scooter people were very good and did a great job explaining everything to us, and I highly recommend them if your in need of having your cat spayed or neutered esp if your on a low budget. They also do Farrel Cats for only 20.00 as well as rabies shots for free on all cats and other things for small fees. You can check them out here:

Trip to the Neuter Scooter

Had to rise early this morning and help my mom get her two girls (Cats) ready to go get fixed. The Neuter Scooter is in two today and tomorrow and the lines were long today. Mom's a bit nervous about them being away but hopefully all will go well for them and they will be much better cats for her to love and enjoy. We certainly don't need more kittens around here! Thank goodness for the Neuter Scooter, as the vets charge more than most in this town can afford to have their cats fixed. 40.00 a cat (prepaid online) isn't that bad, but over 200.00 at the vet is highway robbery in my opinion. Everyone complains about the animal population and how they need to be fixed, but it's truly sad that it costs so much to have them done. Thank you Neuter Scooter!! Your a blessing with all your wonderful work :)
If "Octo-Mom" had been able to get use of the Neuter Scooter....ahh well I'll be nice and won't go there lol

Happy Father's Day!

This is a bittersweet Father's Day for me, my first one without my dad. Sadly he passed away last November on Thanksgiving. His presence is missed by many and is in our hearts and minds so much.
I couldn't have asked for better dad than him, he was someone I looked up to, admired and loved so much, I only wish I could have had him on this earth longer. I know he's out of pain now and that's a great comfort to me, but I still miss him dearly.
He was a father, a husband and good friend to so many people. He didn't get the chance to finish school and was brought up in a large family that had little, but he worked hard all his life and made a nice home for my mother, brother and I. Worked two jobs just to buy a bigger house after my brother was born and never complained. He was of that old school where he wanted my mother to be home with us kids and let him take the burden of providing for us. He was a good man, an honest man and most rare in these days, a faithful husband who loved his wife with all his heart.
My mom and him were to celebrate their 54th wedding anniversary just a week after his death, but those 54 years were something special and wonderful to them both.
Dad, we miss you so, rest in peace

News On The Home Front

Well in a few weeks my son who's just finished boot camp and going though "A" school in the Navy will be visiting me on his first leave. He's looking forward to some real home cooked meals, so I've asked a few neighbors if they would mind cooking some for him. My idea of a home cooked meal these days is whatever comes out of a frozen box and can be put in the micro-wave. Better yet, if it can be left out when I come home from the store and be eaten with out all that extra work of placing it into the mirco-wave I'm a happy lady :)
Honestly though I can't wait to see my son, he left for Texas right after he graduated high school so it's been just over a year now since I last saw him. Quite a shock too when he informed me he wasn't going to attend college in Texas and had signed up for the Navy. I think his dad had a bit to do with that, shape up or ship out lol
My youngest son is still home, one more year and then he gets his freedom and I get to wander the house being depressed and alone. Most parents throw a party when their last one's leave the nest, me I just find myself in a fetal position on their old bed wondering why they had to grow up and leave me. Okay, not really but I will miss the sound of kids in the house. You know, "Mom what's for dinner? Mom I need my laundry done before morning! Mom why don't you have any good food in here and can I have some money to buy dragon balls for my game?" Oh yes I'll sure miss the joyful sounds of my kids.
Actually I'm planing on moving into a 1 bedroom apt where I don't have room for any over night visits and never have any thing in my kitchen to cook because I eat out all the time, when I'm not playing on my computer.
Okay enough about the kids, I've got to tend my online Farm and twitter something totally worthless before I zazzle the night away.

A tale of the incrediable missing bionic boob

My mom, bless her heart, you gotta love her! She's 72 years young now and other than having to walk with a cane she is doing good. She does get a bit forgetful at times, as I found out the a few weeks ago when she called me and informed me she was having a bad day. I'm not sure what the problem is and afraid maybe she's hurt herself or is feeling ill. She then goes on to tell me that she's lost her "Bionic Boob"! Thinking I've heard her wrong I ask her "What did you loose?" Again she tells me her "Bionic Boob". Okay I'll bite, what's your bionic boob mom? "My false titty" she replies as if I'm the one who's the boob for not understanding her. Now I've got images of this mammary prosthetic with metal Gadgets unlike something from a scifi movie, and the horror that it may have become lost while we were on one of our many outings to her favorite place in the world.... Walmart! Eeegads, could we ever show our faces in the store again! Trying to get a hold of my thoughts I ask her as calmly as I can "Mom where did you last have it?" She's not sure but thinks the last time she saw it was the night before when she was getting ready for bed. Oh thank goodness, it's lost in her Motor home! "Did you check in the bed mom?" I ask. "Yes I've searched the entire motor home for it and haven't found it yet" she tells me. "Well it's got to be there someplace, and how do you loose something like that?" She just replies "Oh I've lost it a number of times, your dad always helped me find it though when he was alive"
Oh my mom, bless her heart I love her.
On a good note, she found it a few hours later, it was by her chair under her crochet yarn.
Best news yet, she's crocheting a pink "boob Cozy" for it and plans on making another "cozy" for it in a nude color! I hope my kids know what they may be in for when I'm 72!

Television Shows Rant

Why do television shows always have to put the background sounds/music so high that it drowns out what the actors are saying? Geesh I try and watch a show and have to turn the sound on my tv up so high that the neighbors can hear it and yet I still can't understand half of what they are saying due to the stupid background noise. Movies are the same way half the time. If I wanted to see a concet it would be one thing, but if they are going to pay these actors to speak at least let us be able to hear the words without them being drowned out by the background sounds!
Okay, that's my rant of the day :)

Out and About The Coast

Just wanted to spend a few minutes on some things happening around the Southern Oregon Coast.
Lighthouse is offering Father’s Day tours:
Evening tours of the Umpqua River Lighthouse will be conducted from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, for Father’s Day.Fathers are admitted free with family for this 30-minute tour. There is a limit of eight people per tour. Regular tour admission prices are $3 for adults and $2 for children ages 6 to 16.
Sign up at the museum’s front lobby at 1020 Lighthouse Road in Winchester Bay. For more information, call (541) 271-4631.

4th Of July there will be an Airshow at the Mill Casino, starts around 11:30am and ends around 2:30 pm. Should be a lot of fun, take your camera's as there are sure to be some great shots to be had. Sounds like a great way to start your 4th Of July Celebration before the big night! Oh yes and remember the Mill has their fireworks display on July 3rd, so don't forget to mark your calendars :)
Just remember to play it safe, and only use fireworks in an area that has been approved and ONLY fireworks sold at legal fireworks stands.

Just want to say that the weather is starting to look more and more like summer now and the beaches are a great spot to cool off and have fun. I know a lot of people love to go to Bastendorf Beach and light off fireworks (even though it's posted not to do that), but if you insist on having your fireworks at the beach, please be nice and clean up after yourselves, it's sad to see so much trash and spent fireworks littering the beautiful beach the next day, and it's unsafe for the animals that share them it with us.

Speaking of pets, if your looking for a fine dog or cat, puppy or kitten, be sure to check our Animal Shelter (or any animal shelter in your area) first. These poor pets need a loving home and someone to care for them, why not adopt one in need.
The Coos County Animal Shelter is at 92960 Southport Road in Coos Bay. Shelter hours are from noon to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays.

ACEO's (Artist Trading Cards)

Seems these ACEO and ATC cards are still going strong, and not to be left out of this cool madness I am trying out a new idea on them. These cards can be the best of two worlds, trading cards as well as business/profile cards. Trade them, share them, collect them, even frame them. It's all the rage on Esty and Ebay, but why not add some of your own information and use them as your own Business or Profile Cards. There are so many cool things you can do with these mini works of art, even buy them as a gift for a family member or friend.
